About The Position

This role performs routine cleaning and care of our facility and tools needed to care for our animals. Provides support to Shelter Service staff by performing NON-Animal contact duties as part of a team. The housekeeping lead position reports to the Director of Information Technology and Facilities

Requirements

  • Available to work weekends, holiday shifts and overtime as needed
  • Outgoing, polite and professional manner.
  • Team player, able to work in a fast-pace environment and multi-task.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must have the ability to follow direction
  • Position must be dependable, and efficient work with the ability to follow instructions without need of constant support.
  • Must support the mission, programs and activities of the Society and act as an advocate for the organization.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Math skills (B)
  • peak, read, and write in the English language (B)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scheduling other member of the Housekeeping team.
  • Responsible for being the Point of Contact for any Volunteers assigned to housekeeping duties. They will work with the Volunteer team to delegate any volunteers to someone from the housekeeping team.
  • Regularly communicates with the Director of Information Technology and Facilities about any issues or concerns regarding housekeeping duties or equipment.
  • Responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of animal feeding, care supplies and enrichment tools.
  • Uses and Maintains appliances and other tools with care and reports any deficiency to the Director of Information Technology and Facilities immediately.
  • Performs cleaning and sanitation of and ensures adequate access to clean crates, dens, traps and collapsible crates are available.
  • Ensures that Laundry is started and maintained during scheduled shift on a timely schedule in order to efficiently produce a par of 10-12 loads per day for outdoor unit and “as needed” for indoor unit.
  • Maintain working and general areas within department in a clean and organized manner.
  • Assists with cleaning of high traffic areas including but not limited to floors, railings and other high traffic areas.
  • Restocks cleaning and other kennel supplies and communicates closely with the appropriate staff to ensure inventory of needed supplies is maintained at appropriate levels.
  • Follows established protocol for all tasks
  • Assists team with the cleaning of unoccupied animal housing and enrichment areas when needed
  • Manages relationship and is point of contact for janitorial company (separate set of duties from housekeeping staff)
  • Managers orders for housekeeping supplies
  • Leads weekly team huddles
  • Writes SOPs and documentation for team
  • Trains volunteers and leads housekeeping related volunteer groups
  • Participate in disease reduction through compassionate handling of all animal care tools and supplies, ensuring safety is always the first priority.
  • Interact and communicate with co-workers and volunteers in an efficient and courteous manner to ensure a cooperative team environment amongst all departments.
  • Willingly and cooperatively performs other duties as assigned
