About The Position

A House Manager for individuals with developmental disabilities oversees the daily operations of homes. The House Manager ensures that the home is in compliance with state regulations.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Typically requires 1–2 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities, often with prior supervisory experience.
  • Most roles require being on-call 24/7 for emergencies, staffing shortages, or medical crises.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (usually fewer than 5 points) is required for transporting clients.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Supervision: Training, and managing a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). This includes creating weekly work schedules.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensuring the home meets all Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) standards. This involves auditing daily logs, medication administration records (MARs), and incident reports (MUIs/UIs).
  • Individual Service Plans (ISP): Coordinating and implementing each resident's ISP.
  • Household Management: Ensure the home is clean, well-maintained, and stocked with groceries and medical supplies.
  • Medical Coordination: Scheduling and often transporting residents to medical appointments, then relaying follow-up instructions to the Director of Programs.
