About The Position

This role is a seasonal position for our Spring and Summer break periods. This role ends in September. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain the overall cleanliness of Newport Aquarium by completing daily checklists and cleaning tasks Contribute to overall building maintenance both during operation and after hours Proactively find ways to better the overall Guest Experience Engage guests with animal facts, information, and personal connections through interpretation Daily garbage, recycling, and compost disposal Deep cleans using specified machines (pressure washer, carper extractor, hard floor scrubber, etc.) Additional cleaning and maintenance tasks assigned by the House and Grounds Lead and/or Supervisor QUALIFICATIONS: 18 years old or older Previous experience in facilities cleaning desired Willingness to become Blood-Borne Pathogens trained Knowledge of aquatic life a plus Friendly, outgoing and proactive approach Ability to work as a member of a team Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends, holidays, and evenings PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of pre-employment background check In good health and capable of performing strenuous and/or heavy physical labor No history of allergy related to animals or plants, which might interfere with ability to work Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend and stoop Ability to work in all weather conditions No impairment of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance and agility of movement which might interfere with ability to work Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds Immunocompetence (possible exposure to infections and parasitic disease) WHAT YOU’LL GET: Free entrance for you and your dependents which extends to most Herschend Enterprises’ properties Earn 1 General Admission complimentary ticket, that you can give to anyone, per pay period Discounts at Sharky’s Café, Sweet Dreams Candy Company, and the gift shop Discounted tickets and annual passes for friends and family Training and development You can expect to work on projects that have never been done before – ideas that are unproven, and concepts that make people smile. Requirements

  • 18 years old or older
