About The Position

The Marriott Salt Lake City University Park is currently seeking a dynamic and motivated individual for the position of Sales Manager at their StepStone Hospitality managed hotel. This candidate should demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong proficiency in multi-tasking, and essential hospitality sales experience.

Requirements

  • Flexibility to work various shifts.
  • Previous guest service experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Minimum lifting of 50 pounds.
  • Pushing, bending, stopping, upward reaching, manual dexterity.
  • Hearing, writing, typing.
  • Minimum pulling of 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of CI/TY Sales System is preferred
  • Marriott Full-Service PMS experience is preferred but not a requirement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Office, Chrome, Internet Explorer
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently
  • Display initiative, perseverance and analytical skills
  • Effective communication
  • Professional, ethical and displays enthusiasm
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Team player and ability to get along with others
  • Available to meet guests which may include weekends
  • Ability to read, write and speak English, with excellent grammar and communication skills (written and verbal)

Responsibilities

  • Solicitation of new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone/e-mail, solicitation, outside sales calls, virtual/site inspections and written communication
  • Ability to book new business including group, business travel, and meeting room rental
  • Ability to work with the operation team to execute group, meeting, and event business
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to maximize revenue. Meet sales goals through the development of new customers as well as nurturing existing client relationships
  • Ability to quote rates and availability to customers and manage groups and catering leads alongside revenue management for optimal pricing
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all hotel departments but also work independently
  • Assumes the responsibility for set-up and execution of events as needed
  • Assist with other areas as assigned by the General Manager, and Regional VP of Sales and Marketing
  • Ability to work with outside catering companies and local vendors to execute successful events
  • Ability to log all sales related activity in the CITY Sales and Catering sales software system
