About The Position

The Hotel Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing hotel malfunctions across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including heat pumps, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, and elevators, as well as other hotel equipment. This role involves accurately recording all troubleshooting, repairs, or replacements within the Preventive Maintenance (PM) system. The engineer will also assist with preventative maintenance tasks and complete work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and patching vinyl to maintain the hotel's product quality standards. Key duties include refurbishing and finishing furniture and fixtures in guest rooms, performing scheduled preventative maintenance assignments like "room care," and providing support for Information Technology (I.T.) needs. The position requires courteous interaction with guests to address questions, complaints, and requests, ensuring high guest satisfaction. Communication with Casino Engineering and all Hotel department heads is essential to identify maintenance needs and ensure timely responses to internal requests. Additionally, the Hotel Engineer will service the hotel's pool, which includes adjusting chemicals, cleaning filters, and completing maintenance request forms and logs. Adherence to attendance rules and regular availability for work are mandatory.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in hotel operations or other commensurate experience.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner.
  • Ability to communicate well with guests.
  • Willingness to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Knowledge of the travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
  • Extensive skill in MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing).
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair hotel malfunctions in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (e.g., heat pumps, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, elevators) and other hotel equipment throughout.
  • Record all troubleshooting, repairs, or replacements within the PM (Preventive Maintenance) system.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors windows and counters.
  • Paint and finish furniture and fixtures if needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis (e.g., "room care").
  • Assist with all I.T (Information Technology) when needed.
  • Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate with Casino Engineering and all Hotel department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
  • Service the hotel's pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; completing maintenance request forms and recording logs.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
