About The Position

Commerce Casino, established in 1983, is the world’s largest card casino with over 200 tables and more than 2,500 employees. The Hotel Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing hotel malfunctions across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including heat pumps, HVAC, boilers, and elevators. This role also involves assisting with preventative maintenance, completing work orders for general repairs like replacing ceiling tiles and light bulbs, and refurbishing guest room furniture and fixtures. The engineer will perform scheduled preventative maintenance, assist with IT needs, service the hotel's pool, and ensure strong guest satisfaction by courteously responding to questions and complaints. Communication with Casino Engineering and Hotel department heads is essential to address maintenance needs promptly. The position requires compliance with attendance rules and availability to work on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in hotel operations or other commensurate experience.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.
  • Can communicate well with guests.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Knowledge of the travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
  • Extensive skill in MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing).
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair hotel malfunctions in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems (e.g., heat pumps, HVAC, plumbing, boilers, elevators) and other hotel equipment throughout.
  • Record all troubleshooting and repairs or replacement within the PM (Preventive Maintenance) system.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.
  • Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors windows and counters.
  • Paint and finish furniture and fixtures if needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis (e.g., "room care").
  • Assist with all I.T (Information Technology) when needed.
  • Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate with Casino Engineering and all Hotel department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
  • Service the hotel's pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; completing maintenance request forms and recording logs.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
