Join us!” Overview of the Role: The Accounting Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including cashier responsibilities, verifying and posting transactions, managing accounts receivable, and applying payments. This role ensures the proper handling, reconciliation, and security of cash, petty cash, and financial documents in accordance with company policies. The Accounting Clerk supports audits, completes period-end reporting, and serves as a liaison with business partners while maintaining strong communication with internal departments and assisting leadership with additional accounting and administrative tasks as needed. The Accounting Clerk is expected to ensure exceptional service that is consistent and continually in accordance with the Marriott Autograph Collection standards under the franchise of Mainsail Lodging & Development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Previous accounting experience required
  • Previous hotel experience required
  • Must be proficient in Excel and Outlook; and have reasonable level general computer skills
  • Available Monday – Friday with occasional weekends
  • Excellent communication skills needed with both internal and external guests and business partners, both verbal and written
  • Organizational skills and strong attention to detail required
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Corrected vision to normal range
  • Ability to work long hours as needed
  • Ability to lift, pull and push up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Make sound judgments quickly
  • Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines
  • Able to work independently, take direction and provide direction to others

Nice To Haves

  • Previous General Cashier experience preferred
  • Previous Marriott systems experience preferred (CI/TY & Opera)

Responsibilities

  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes
  • Organize, secure, and maintain all files, records, cash and cash equivalents in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Record, store, access, and/or analyze computerized financial information.
  • Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals, ledgers, and/or computers
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable including but not limited to maintaining a billing control log, accurately posting and applying payments, maintain customer files, and collections
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes
  • Post customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions
  • Posts revenues by verifying and entering transactions
  • Complete period-end closing procedures and reports as specified
  • Audit cashier banks periodically according to SOPs
  • Maintain, distribute, and record petty cash, cashier banks, and contracts.
  • Document, maintain, communicate, and act upon all Cash Variances according to SOPs
  • Act as liaison between properties and armored car service or primary banking institution.
  • Participate in internal, external, and regulatory audit processes and ensure compliance with SOPs
  • Maintain open communications with all hotels and departments
  • Assist supervisor with tasks
  • Perform other duties as management’s requests
