About The Position
Be part of the grand opening team for Merkin Vineyards Hilltop Winery located in Old Town Cottonwood. Our restaurant and tasting rooms are well-known and well-established and we look forward to adding talented, dedicated, and energized people to our existing team! Merkin Vineyards Hilltop Winery & Trattoria features a full menu of freshly made breads, pastas, entrees, salads and wood-oven pizzas, along with finely crafted Arizona wines, select beers and cocktails. Also onsite is the greenhouse and bottle shop and retail space. The Host/Hostess is responsible for welcoming and engaging guests, and ensuring that they are seated. Their duties include maintaining a well-stocked and organized retail area, maintaining a waitlist of patrons during busy meal service, passing out menus, accepting phone calls, completing accurate money transactions and accuracy of the cash register.
Requirements
- Experience hostessing or similar.
- Able to stand and walk for long periods of time, bending, lifting of 25 pounds.
- Able to accurately handle payment transactions.
- Yavapai County Food Worker Certificate. (www.yavapai.us/chs/)
- Arizona Department of liquor basic training certificate. (www.azliquor.gov)
Nice To Haves
- Two years or more of experience as hostess in the food and beverage industry is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greets customers as they walk into the restaurant, helps with reservations, and guides them to their table.
- Adds guests to the Waitlist and gives them approximate wait time estimates.
- Provides guests with menus and answers any initial questions they may have.
- Optimizes seating at different tables to ensure an even workload for wait staff.
- Answers phones and schedules reservations with large parties.
- Cleans the store and ensure products are properly displayed before the store opens. Including, shelves, counters, and tables.
- Organizes merchandise on shelves and restocks them when they become empty.
- Recommends, selects, and helps locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
- Advises customers concerning particular products or services and answers questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
- Executes routine inventory counts and submits reports to the Store Manager.
- Completes other store administrative tasks as directed by the Store Manager.
- Upsells to customers through recommendations.
- Maintains knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
- Able to accurately handle payment transactions.
- Able to stand and walk for long periods of time, bending, lifting of 25 pounds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
