Under the supervision of the Gift Shop Manager, the Gift Shop Cashier is responsible for the following: Selling admissions accurately and efficiently. Actively solicit membership sales and all other appropriate tickets/offers. Selling all gift shop items accurately and efficiently. Receiving and tagging merchandise. Stocking gift shop shelves. Keeping all gift shop areas and work spaces clean and "visitor friendly". Attending to all customer needs/problems in a prompt & courteous manner. Answering phone calls; relaying any necessary messages to staff. Checking messages and work schedule at start of shift. Opening registers and preparation of assigned area if opening the shop. Closing out registers and other devices at the end of the business day and transferring money and appropriate paperwork to supervisor. Cleaning assigned areas at end of business day to established standards. Assisting in preparation of deposits and associated record keeping. Inventorying gift shop stock on a regular basis and making reports. Checking supplies of all brochures/other informational items and replenishing displays as necessary. Following all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed. Supporting all aspects of the Park District’s safety program. Wearing proper designated uniform. Performing other duties as assigned. Essential Functions: The work requires some physical exertion in handling supplies, equipment and materials. Prolonged standing, bending and stooping, and ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds is required on a periodic basis. The programmed activities involve everyday risk, which require normal safety precautions typical of the recreation industry.
