The Hospital Telecom Operator will operate a console telephone switchboard in order to relay incoming, outgoing and inter-facility calls, providing information to callers as appropriate. This is an entry-level position working under limited supervision. Work situations are basically routine and require strong communication skills, and a service oriented individual. Requirements

  • Basic reading comprehension required.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs with at least a 30 words per minute speed.
  • Ability to perform calmly, competently and quickly in emergency situations required.
  • Ability to fluently speak and understand English required.

Nice To Haves

  • Multiline telephone system or Call Center experience preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • High School Graduate or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing various hospital communication duties such as overhead paging, beeper paging, monitoring alarms, gas levels and fire alarms, and alerting personnel of impending disasters, fires and codes notifying appropriate personnel as required.
  • Training new hires, keeping resources updated, cleaning the work space, and all other duties deemed necessary by the management team.
