The University of Iowa Health Care department of Safety and Security is seeking a Hospital Security Officer to perform duties needed to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the buildings and grounds of the University of Iowa Health Care Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff entering the hospital Assist with wayfinding and information to patients, visitors, and staff Perform security checks, patrol facility, and monitor special assignments Conduct incident investigations and provide documentation for follow-up Respond to and assist in all incidents regarding safety and security Respond to lock/unlock doors, troubleshoot elevator problems and extricate as needed, and assist in traffic/parking enforcement Respond to and resolve emergencies such as fire, HazMat, and security alarms Provide security surveillance of institution, including physiatric units Maintain a working knowledge of computers to process data, operate fire alarm systems, and security systems Escort to parking ramps and outlying areas Perform safekeeping procedures Provide effective oral and written communication Enforce all institution policies and procedures Ability to walk and climb stairs. Ability to lift and carry fifty pounds. Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions. Ability to see and hear accurately in both day and nighttime conditions.
