About The Position

The Hospice Quality Management Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) monitors documentation and charting of clinical staff who are providing care to patients in their homes. In collaboration with the Director of Quality Outcomes, the Quality Management LVN ensures that all documentation meets Federal, State, and accreditation guidelines and agency policies. The Quality Management LVN participates in on-going performance improvement activities and education to ensure that high-quality care is provided to promote regulatory compliance and reimbursement.

Requirements

  • Must meet certification, licensure, or registration requirements.
  • Minimum 2 years as Quality LVN
  • California Licensed Vocational Nurse required upon hire
  • National Provider BLS – American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required upon request.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties.
  • Requires ability to communicate in English effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to articulate and embrace an integrated healthcare at home philosophy.
  • Strong clinical nursing skills; knowledge of hospice and palliative care practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Knowledge and alignment with Compassus philosophy and standards of care; able to work in a way that supports the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries while supporting families in crisis; uses self-care strategies for managing stress.
  • Proven ability to build professional relationships across diverse groups at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks, meet quality standards, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to diverse cultural and value systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Electronic Health Record systems preferred.
  • Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • In a healthcare setting, exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and conditions typical to the field is expected.
  • Routine use of standard medical equipment and tools associated with clinical care is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong clinical nursing skills; knowledge of hospice and palliative care practices preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Electronic Health Record systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews clinical documentation to support payor requirements and Conditions of Participation (CoPs).
  • Reviews clinical documentation and orders to ensure all requirements for billing are met prior to claim submission.
  • Notifies caregivers and contractors of deviations from documentation standards, missing documentation, and necessary corrections needed for compliance.
  • Completes reporting and audit activity in the electronic medical record, utilization programs, and quality dashboards as assigned.
  • Aggregates data necessary for internal audits in alignment with performance improvement initiatives.
  • Supports preparation for external audits and surveys as directed by the Director of Quality Outcomes or Regional Executive of Clinical Operations.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills and behaviors of cooperation.
  • Maintains continuing education and professional licensures for the duration of employment.
  • Observes the Mission and Core Values of the organization.
