The Baltimore Country Club is seeking a Horticulturist for our Five Farms campus in Timonium, MD. This full-time Horticulturist position reports to the Director of Horticulture and assists with management of the horticulture team and providing exceptional facilities and experiences through hands-on garden maintenance. ABOUT BALTIMORE COUNTRY CLUB Founded in 1898, Baltimore Country Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious country clubs in the United States. Today, the Club has nearly 3,300 members and is listed as #39 for Platinum Clubs of America, and #91 for Platinum Clubs in the World. It is one of only 12 clubs in the country to operate on two campuses. The Five Farms campus is comprised of over 400 acres and includes our newly renovated clubhouse and grounds, two 18-hole golf courses, tennis and pickleball courts, pool complex, and fitness center. The Roland Park campus consists of 12 acres and boasts our historic clubhouse and grounds, which are a favorite wedding venue, and amenities like paddle tennis, bowling, and fitness. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE FIVE FARMS HORTICULTURIST The Horticulture Department at Baltimore Country Club is responsible for care of the extensive landscaping at both clubhouses, pool complex, fitness facility, and tennis courts, as well as perennial gardens across both golf courses. The Five Farms Horticulturist takes the lead in overseeing the club's production gardens, including a 50-tree orchard, raised-bed vegetable garden, asparagus plot, and herb garden, all of which provide fresh produce to the kitchens for use by our culinary team. Other daily tasks include watering, plant health care, garden installation and maintenance, and seasonal rotations throughout our historic and botanically-diverse grounds. The Five Farms Horticulturist will gain leadership experience by assisting the Director of Horticulture in management of the Horticulture team's daily tasks and projects. They will have a chance to connect with the membership through workshops in container gardening, pollinator plants, wreath making, and garden tours. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS Interested candidates should have a two- or four-year degree in Horticulture, Plant Sciences, or a related field, but those with equivalent work experience/training will be considered. Requirements

  • a positive attitude and be self-motivated and quality-driven
  • excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • a basic knowledge of best practices, IPM, equipment operation, principles of design
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • This is a hands-on position, and candidates must be capable of performing landscaping activities efficiently, including repetitive tasks, bending at the waist and knee, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Some overtime hours, alternating weekend mornings, snow removal, and holidays are required, seasonally.
  • Interested candidates should have a two- or four-year degree in Horticulture, Plant Sciences, or a related field, but those with equivalent work experience/training will be considered.
