About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst with expertise in HL7 (Health Level Seven) integration standards and strong project management capabilities. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring seamless interoperability between healthcare systems while managing projects from initiation to delivery. This is a remote position based in the United States. Salary range is $90k - $130k DOE.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3-5+ years experience as a Business Analyst in healthcare IT
  • Proven experience with HL7 standards (v2.x, v3, FHIR) and healthcare integration engines (e.g., Mirth, Rhapsody, Corepoint)
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and interoperability standards
  • Hands-on experience with interface testing and troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with EHR or EMR systems (i.e. SmartCare, Epic, Cerner, Meditech)
  • Knowledge of other healthcare standards (X12, CDA, CCD)
  • Project Management experience (PMP or similar certification preferred)
  • Experience with Agile or Waterfall methodologies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements related to healthcare data exchange and interoperability
  • Design and validate HL7 message structures (v2.x, v3, FHIR) for integration between EMR/EHR systems, laboratory systems, and other healthcare applications
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure accurate mapping of data elements and compliance with HL7 standards.
  • Conduct gap analysis and propose solutions for integration challenges.
  • Perform testing and validation of HL7 interfaces, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
  • Troubleshoot HL7 message issues and coordinate resolution with vendors and internal teams.
  • Lead and manage integration projects from planning through execution, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget
  • Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, status updates, and risk assessments
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH) and organizational standards
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including developers, QA, vendors, and clinical staff
  • Create detailed functional specifications, interface design documents, and workflow diagrams
  • Maintain project documentation including requirements traceability and change management logs
  • Provide regular progress reports to leadership and stakeholders
