About The Position

This position serves as the primary contact for Hispanic families in the parish, as well as coordinator of baptism and marriage sacraments for all parish families. In accordance with Parish and Archdiocesan policies, the candidate supports parish families by communicating and implementing sacramental opportunities that nurture their personal faith and foster a sense of belonging which leads to participation in the life, mission and work of the Church.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Fluency of English and Spanish, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Previous administrative office experience.
  • Practicing Catholic with a desire to share and support the faith.
  • Ability to handle and respect confidential and sensitive information.
  • Reliable, organized and able to work collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a client or church database system preferred.
  • Previous parish volunteer or ministry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a welcoming presence for parish visitors and callers by providing appropriate assistance in a professional and helpful manner.
  • Serves as main contact with Spanish speaking families to provide ministerial assistance with Sacramental preparation, Religious Education, stewardship, etc.
  • Assists with bilingual English-Spanish communications and parish program materials by providing both written and verbal translation as needed.
  • Assists families with baptism and marriage sacramental requirements by providing appropriate materials, forms, deadlines and fees information.
  • Maintains calendar for baptisms and weddings.
  • Plans and coordinates onsite Spanish baptism classes.
  • Teaches baptism classes and/or oversees volunteer catechists.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the Marriage Preparation process, including supporting couples with planning, paperwork, scheduling preparation meetings with the pastor, coordinating wedding rehearsals, etc.
  • Ensures smooth flow of each wedding by being present to assist as needed with liturgy, pictures, clean up, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate, legible and current sacramental records, as well as prompt notification and printing of annotations in sacramental documents.
  • Fulfills requests for copies of Sacramental records.
  • Enters registration information for Hispanic families and updates records.
  • Coordinates with and acts as main point of contact for Hispanic Ministries and volunteers in the parish.
  • Recruits, trains, supports and evaluates volunteers for baptism and marriage sacramental preparation programs as needed.
  • Compiles weekly Prayers of the Faithful and Mass intentions.
  • Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for the position. This may be accomplished by participating in Archdiocesan sponsored training, attendance at workshops and classes, and/or reading appropriate materials.
