About The Position

The Portage County Engineer is accepting applications from persons interested in the full-time position of Highway Worker I. The selected candidate will operate various pieces of light vehicles such as cars and pickups to assist with the maintenance, construction and repair of county roads, bridges, and culverts; performs other duties as required. Engineer will provide CDL training in house to help the Highway Worker I obtain a Class A CDL, subject to all provision of the collectively bargained in house training program. Individual will be given a one-year probationary period to obtain a class A CDL license. Upon licensure the candidate will become a Highway Worker II. Successful applicant must pass a drug screen. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Related work experience
• Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License
• Must be available to work overtime during emergencies and as needed
• Successful applicant must pass a drug screen
