By joining our Central City Section as a Highway Technician II in Muhlenberg County, you’ll have the opportunity to plan, oversee, and evaluate project construction and maintenance contract tasks such as small resurfacing projects, review certification of tests & perform inspections, review project costs, revise and project scheduling. Summary of Responsibilities: Coordinates highway construction or maintenance projects and, or, inspects mowing and snow removal contracts. Perform tasks requiring the application of technical principles in the design, development and, or, review of small engineering projects while learning to perform more advanced technical functions. Plans, organizes, assists, and inspects the proper installation of traffic control and safety of job sites Oversees basic quality assurance materials sampling and testing such as concrete slump and temperature, and asphalt content and density. Completes materials testing report forms. Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Must have eight years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a Class A commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • The employee must successfully complete the KYTC Highway Technician Academy Level 3 or equivalent within one year of employment in this job classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.
  • Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
