About The Position

Highway Technician 5/Construction & Maintenance - Cuyahoga County - East & West - PNs: 20056054, 20057235 What You Will Do: During Construction Season: Inspect construction projects as assigned. During Snow & Ice Season: Work in the Maintenance garages, clearing snow and ice. You will be working in various locations throughout the district. Work alongside Engineers and assist lower-level Highway Technicians during construction season. Work as a lead worker when working in maintenance outside of the construction season.

Requirements

• Successful completion of all Highway Technician level 1, 2, 3, & 4 courses (i.e., construction/field &/or lab track) & construction experience requirements per the current Highway Technician MOU between ODOT & OCSEA/AFSCME; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I, Aggregate Level 1, & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver’s license.
• completion of associate core program in construction technology or comparable core program; 18 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver’s license.
• completion of certification program from National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET); 24 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver’s license.
• 36 months experience or training in roadway construction inspection &/or materials testing; Certification in ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I & Aggregate Level 1 & Nuclear Gauge; valid driver’s license.
• equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
