Highway Maintenance Worker - Medium Equipment Operator (61036910)
About The Position
Operates medium equipment such as tandem dump truck in the hauling of various maintenance materials such as concrete pipe, asphalt, dirt, and various materials used in maintenance operations. Operates medium equipment such as skid steer roller to compact and solidify fill material used in the paving of driveway, and other drainage structures for repairing shoulders on state right of way. Performs manual labor in the installation of reinforced concrete pipe for driveways and other drainage purposes; repairing potholes and base surface failures of roadway. Uses hand tools such as asphalt rakes, brooms and shovels in the daily operations; and uses a chainsaw as necessary in inclement weather. Flags traffic during roadway and/or electric repairs to ensure the safety of fellow employees and the traveling public. Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations, may include being available for extended working hours or 12 hour shifts.
Requirements
- Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
- A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required upon entry to the position.
- Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
