About The Position

Operates a tractor with a large mower to maintain vegetation management guidelines on the state highway right-of-ways in Allendale County. Litter pickup, debris and removal of dead animals from roadways. Operates a combination front-end loader to load and unload materials as needed for maintenance activities. Coordinates the placement of traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone according to the SCDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Manual and Field Guide to warn motorists. Conducts and documents pre-trip equipment/vehicle inspection in accordance with the Department's most current rules, policies, and procedures for fleet safety. Flags traffic during road repairs to control the flow of traffic, protect workers, equipment and the general public. Assists in the removal of snow/ice and debris during inclement weather operations; may include being available for extended hours or 12-hour shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
  • Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
