HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKER 2 - Underfill Highway Maintenance Worker 3
About The Position
Highway Maintenance Workers are certified by the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) to operate a variety of complex or specialized highway maintenance and construction equipment in order to restore and maintain the integrity of roadway surfaces; maintain roadside slopes, shoulders, culverts and ditches to restore drainage and prevent erosion; and repair or replace related roadway appurtenances such as guardrails, markers, guide posts and fences. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION. PLEASE MARK YOU HAVE ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE PERFORMING BASIC HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE TO PROCEED TO APPLICATION. This position is located in Carson, Minden, Gardnerville, Genoa, NV. This position is responsible for maintaining Highway Landscaped areas throughout Carson City and other areas. They are also responsible for snow removal in the maintenance yards and assisting other crews with snow removal along state highways, as well as brine production for the Carson City and surrounding areas. The selected applicant will need to obtain a Nevada Restricted Use Pesticide and Herbicide Applicator's License within 6 months of appointment. This position may require working in inclement weather. THIS IS A TRAINEE LEVEL POSITION IN THE SERIES AND INCUMBENT MAY PROGRESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL UPON MEETING THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE AND WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY. Requirements
- One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance
- Ability to obtain a Nevada Restricted Use Pesticide and Herbicide Applicator's License within 6 months of appointment
