What You'll Do as a Maintenance Repair Worker 2 Performs maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of electrical and plumbing equipment. Performs carpentry work involving maintenance, alteration &/or repair of buildings, equipment & wood structures. Performs basic painting. Operates state vehicle to transport various equipment, tools, parts, materials & supplies to various locations throughout the state or to transport vehicle to dealership for service or repair. Click here to see full position description UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS May work evening shift; may be exposed to high & low temperatures; may be exposed to weather. This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123\: 1-46-01 & DAS Directive HR-D-11). This position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency. Background Check Information A BCI and FBI fingerprint check, a background check, including a polygraph examination, may be required on all selected applicants. A comparative analysis and/or drug-test may be a requirement of the hiring process. This position is subject to Federal Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) regulations that prohibit someone to carry, transport, or otherwise possess firearm(s) and/or ammunition from using or consuming marijuana in any form, including recreational marijuana, Ohio adult use cannabis, medical marijuana, or otherwise. As a result, the presence of marijuana in a drug test, even if used in accordance with Ohio Law, will be a positive drug test result which could result in denial of employment.

Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary
• 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work (e.g ., basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment )
• Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
• equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.
• Requires valid driver license to operate state vehicle
