GFT is currently seeking a Highway Designer / Highway Engineer to join our Eastern PA highway team. This hybrid position will be based out of either Valley Forge Office (Audubon, PA), Philadelphia Office or Lehigh Valley Office (Fogelsville, PA) . This is an exciting time to join the GFT team! What you’ll be challenged to do: The successful candidate will be focused on designing projects for clients such as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, municipalities and private clients. The candidate will be able to grow as a civil/highway designer for transportation and/or municipal projects. The candidate will work with team members to deliver quality design work, on time and build client relationships through the successful delivery of transportation projects. This position requires effective time management, technical and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be articulate with a professional presence and solid decision-making, planning and organizational skills. The desire to grow your knowledge, expertise, leadership skills, and relationships over time is desirable. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: As part of a team, perform engineering design tasks for transportation and/or municipal projects including studies, preliminary engineering, and final design. Learn about design tools including Microstation and Open Roads software D evelop construction contract documents including plans, specifications, cost estimates. Establish working relationships and contacts with client technical staff and project managers especially in PennDOT, local governments, and private clients. Learn about different aspects of highway and municipal design including construction staging, stormwater management, traffic signals, highway design and interchange layout, landscaping, utilities, sidewalks/trails, culverts, and bridges. Knowledge of civil/site design, highway design, stormwater management design, utilities, and permitting is desirable, but not required.
