About The Position

At GLOW Academy, teachers are considered the heart of the instructional program. The Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington is dedicated to recruiting and retaining high-caliber educators who are committed to the school's mission and students. Requirements

  • Have a passion for science
  • Commitment to support student mastery of content
  • Critical thinking skills that will set students up for success in college and beyond
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and school families, doing “whatever it takes,” to make the vision for students a reality
  • NC Teacher Certification in the subject area and relevant grades
  • Demonstrated ability to teach middle school and/or high school grades 6-12 with a passion for and competency in the appropriate subject area
  • Awareness of educational issues regarding the academic and social development of a diverse population of students, including minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged adolescent girls from high needs neighborhoods/communities
  • Possession of a valid TB test issued by the local county board of health or recognized medical authority

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching the North Carolina State Standards for high school science
  • Competent to teach in a diverse and ever changing learning environment
  • Experience in teaching 8th grade Science and preparing students to take the 8th grade Science EOG
