About The Position

Westview High School is seeking qualified applicants for the role of high school math teacher. Weakley County Schools understands that the classroom teacher is the key factor in student success. The classroom teacher should plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to fulfill their academic potential.

Requirements

  • Hold an active Tennessee teaching license with a 6-12 or 6-10 math endorsement
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid professional Tennessee teacher's license with appropriate certification
  • Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for students at the respective grade level
  • Desire and ability to work with students at the specified age level with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that align to state standards and facilitate active learning within the district curriculum
  • Develop a scheme of work, assessments, and grading in accordance with established procedures
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Prepare the classroom for class activities
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction
  • Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies, and school regulations
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the disciplinary systems of the school
  • Participate in school and system-sponsored activities
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including discussing topics that may be sensitive with confidentiality
  • Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
  • Keep updated with developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and methods, and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
  • Adhere to the Tennessee Teacher Code of Ethics
  • Maintain consistent, predictable attendance and punctuality, including participation in required meetings, trainings, and professional development
  • Perform all duties with integrity, professionalism, accountability and in compliance with all school, district, state, and federal laws/policies.
  • Interact professionally and effectively with students, parents/guardians, coworkers, administrators, and members of the public.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality of student, personnel, and district information.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
  • Use district equipment, technology, and resources appropriately and in support of assigned duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or administrators.
  • Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
