About The Position

Lotus School for Excellence (LSE) is a K-12, college-prep public charter school with a dedicated S.T.E.A.M. focus. Our mission is to provide a safe learning environment and a rigorous college preparatory curriculum supported by a diverse, dedicated community. We seek passionate professionals who go beyond the standard job description to create a fulfilling career environment and drive successful outcomes for our diverse student body. The High School English Teacher will demonstrate mastery of English content, implement a curriculum aligned with Colorado Academic Standards, model independent thinking, creative problem-solving, and abstract reasoning, and assess student performance frequently using diverse evaluative tools. They will also exhibit a thorough understanding of adolescent behavior to maintain a productive learning environment, build cooperative partnerships with parents, students, and colleagues, and take responsibility for student outcomes and contribute to the school culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in English or a specific related content area.
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience.
  • Able to work in the U.S. (does not require visa sponsorship).
  • Complete the APS-sponsored Linguistically Diverse Educator (LDE) Certificate Program within the first two years, beginning in the first year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Colorado Teaching License.
  • Master’s Degree in English or a related field.
  • Experience with Charter Schools, AP curriculum, or Concurrent Enrollment courses.
  • Proven ability to provide differentiated instruction for ELL and Special Education students.

  • Design and deliver instructional plans based on the Colorado Academic Standards that are purposeful, engaging, and meet the differentiated needs of all students.
  • Use district-adopted curricular resources.
  • Conduct formative assessments that inform instruction.
  • Establish and document proactive, two-way communication with parents and students about their progress towards grade-level expectations.
  • Participate in professional development and apply new learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
