About The Position

Evansville Christian School exists to empower students to embrace a Biblical worldview through spiritual & academic growth, servant leadership, and authentic relationships in the name of Jesus Christ. Provide instruction for high school English 9 and English 9 honors. Evansville Christian School is a community that values growth, service, and relationships . Teachers are expected to provide differentiated instruction and assessment in their respective content areas. It is important to teach, model, and implement effective study and discipline skills. Our staff must have a heart for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and must encourage spiritual growth through biblical application and integration, all in support of the school’s mission, vision, and philosophy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in English education or an English related field
  • Maintain a valid Indiana teacher license or be eligible for licensure
  • Agree with ECS Articles of Faith, the ECS position statements, and abide by the ECS Code of Christian Conduct, as well as demonstrate support of ECS faculty/staff and policies.
  • Have a heart for children, Christian education, and the ministry of ECS.

Responsibilities

  • Provide standards-based and developmentally-appropriate instruction integrated with biblical principles in the licensed subject content area for 9th-12th grades.
  • Collect morning school announcements and organization of students to deliver announcements.
  • Direct students in a weekly student newscast.
  • Direct students for live broadcasting from student events such as home basketball games.
  • Direct students as they serve in production support for other ECS campuses during chapel services.
  • Oversee students in obtaining images and video for both the yearbook and student news.
  • Oversee the yearly creation of the high school yearbook through the Yearbook course, using InDesign or similar software.
  • Working alongside a local pastor who acts in a support and teaching role for digital music, which is a portion of the Production class.
  • Lead students in applying the seven essential literacies to information that is readily available - do students know how to find, validate, synthesize, leverage, communicate with, collaborate with, and problem solve with information.
  • Plan, evaluate instruction, and incorporate data from assessments to effectively communicate the material and meet the learning needs of all students.
  • Model, teach, and practice effective study skills for the development of student ownership of self-discipline and proper study habits.
  • Use data effectively to diagnose students’ individual areas of need and provide additional instruction and practice in those areas.
  • Model spiritual discipline through prayer, Bible study, and Christ-like character and provide opportunity and accountability for students to develop spiritual growth.
  • Supervise students to provide an overall environment of safety within all areas of the school, including field trips and after-school events.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and initiative in planning and delivering instruction, completing all duty assignments, meeting deadlines, and demonstrating accountability to the grade-level teaching team.
  • Record online grades and provide feedback to parents in a timely manner to provide ongoing communication to students and parents.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning for all students.
  • Collaborate with parents, educational professionals from local school corporations, parent volunteers, and school-based education intervention teams to provide optimum learning resources for students.
  • Work effectively with grade-level team members, with other grade-level teams, and with the school faculty and staff to implement the mission of ECS.
  • Able to attend multiple extra-curricular activities throughout the school year.
  • Maintain working relationships with the marketing director, athletic director, and fine arts director in order to best highlight student activities and accomplishments
  • Perform other school duties as requested by the principal.
