About The Position

Primary job responsibilities include: Develops and provides an effective comprehensive school counseling program to serve the needs of all students. Provides individual counseling services to meet the developmental, preventive and remedial needs of students. Implements appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals. Provides consultation to teachers and school leadership regarding information, strategies, and approaches for maximizing the total development of students Makes appropriate referrals to assist parents/families and students to obtain the benefit from community services Provides academic advising services to assigned students. Initiates and continually updates 4-year academic plans for assigned students. Assists with the development of class schedules. Conducts one-on-one interviews with returning and transfer students to create schedules for the following school year. Analyzes transcripts of transfer students to determine graduation progress and transfer credits. Oversees graduation requirements and credits. Monitor and report deficiencies. Monitors the “No Grade” report and academic support and remediation programs that are developed and implemented.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in a culturally diverse high school preferred.
  • Counseling license required.
  • Experience leading groups and working in teams to achieve academic success.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Bachelors’ Degree required, Masters’ Degree required.
