About The Position

Function: To assist in reading interventions in the classroom related to high dose tutoring. To support literacy (reading and writing) instruction. To support behavioral initiatives classroom to ensure high dose small group tutoring can occur efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/equivalent
  • Associates Degree or pass paraprofessional skills testing prior to employment
  • Experience working with children
  • Clerical skills (Typing, filing, computer knowledge preferred)
  • Successful completion of Oregon School based fingerprinting and criminal history verification as deemed by State of Oregon legislation
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before staff
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fraction, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Office machine and basic computer application skills required
  • Ability to learn new computer application skills and apply them to the job
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees, supervisors, students and the public
  • Ability to work on more than one project at a time with interruptions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
  • Ability to adapt to situations quickly
  • Employment for this position is contingent on clearance of Background Investigation

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the classroom teacher and Instructional Coach assist students with instructional material
  • Under the direction of the classroom teacher and Instructional Coach work with small groups of students to reinforce students’ high dose turoring initiative
  • Clerical and record keeping tasks necessary to support high dosage tutoring
  • Assist with student supervision and duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned.
