About The Position

The Heavy Civil Construction Foreman position requires individuals with 3 to 5 years of specialized experience, either as a Concrete Foreman or a Dirt Foreman. A Concrete Foreman must be proficient in concrete forming, finishing, cutting, pouring, and experienced with various structures like sidewalks, curbs, gutters, ADA ramps, bridges, box culverts, and gabion baskets. A Dirt Foreman needs expertise in grading, using GPS Trimble for grade specification, flagging, excavation, earth moving, and heavy equipment operations. The role involves significant project management duties, including suggesting value-added ideas, calculating quantities, scheduling equipment and crew, conducting daily safety meetings, supervising personnel and subcontractors, ensuring quality control, and maintaining strict adherence to safety standards. Administrative tasks include assisting HR with performance reviews, maintaining accurate daily logs, reports, and timesheets, and reviewing crew timesheets for payroll accuracy. The foreman will also attend final project walkthroughs. Candidates must pass pre-employment drug and background checks, provide valid I-9 documentation, demonstrate attention to detail, and be willing to travel and work away from home. Essential personal tools and safety gear, such as carpentry hand tools, nail bags, and steel boots, are required.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years as a foreman specializing in concrete forming, finishing, cutting, and pouring (for Concrete Foreman)
  • Experience with sidewalks, curb, gutters, ADA ramps, bridges, box culverts, and gabion basket (for Concrete Foreman)
  • 3 to 5 years as a foreman specializing in grading, mark/read stake to determine grade specification (GPS Trimble), flagging, excavation, earth moving, and heavy equipment operations (for Dirt Foreman)
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration Document
  • Attention to detail and follow directions
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required
  • Must have own carpentry hand tools, nail bags, to form or build
  • Steel boots are required

Responsibilities

  • Offer suggestions for value-added ideas at the field level
  • Calculate quantities and dimensions to ensure accuracy of the estimated budget and schedule prior to performing work and as work is performed
  • Schedule and manage equipment and crew needs with project Superintendent, Project Manager, and support staff throughout the duration of the project
  • Report any mechanical, maintenance and staffing issues as necessary
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings with the crew and discuss JHAs for the day
  • Supervise construction crews, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Assure proper inspections and quality control for any materials delivered and work performed on all projects
  • Adhere to company and industry-specific safety standards to provide the highest level of safety to all workers and community members affected by our working environment
  • Verify subcontractors/suppliers are briefed on and adhere to DBA quality and safety standards
  • Assist human resources with individual performance reviews
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, time sheets, etc.
  • Complete timely submission to appropriate team members and support staff
  • Review daily crew members' time sheets and compare to job codes for accuracy prior to submission for payroll
  • Attend final punch list walkthrough with owner and project manager
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures
