About The Position

This position serves as the primary coordinator for the North Carolina State Health Improvement Plan (NCSHIP), the implementation framework for Healthy North Carolina 2030. The role manages statewide stakeholder engagement through the Community Council, oversees plan development and implementation, and ensures transparency in operations. Responsibilities include coordinating meetings, facilitating collaboration, and maintaining public documentation of activities. The position also develops communication strategies, monitors progress using dashboards, and analyzes data to inform planning and performance improvement. Work requires independent judgment, technical expertise in program analysis, and strong skills in community engagement within a public health context.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment OR An equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience writing and developing communication materials, including formal reports.
  • Documented experience applying strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing projects or programs.
  • Experience facilitating complex or large engagement efforts in face-to-face, online, or other settings.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate statewide engagement for the North Carolina State Health Improvement Plan (NCSHIP) and serve as liaison to the Community Council.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Community Council, including member recruitment, meeting facilitation, and documentation of activities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote transparency through public sharing of Council decisions and progress reports.
  • Track and monitor plan initiatives using dashboards and other reporting tools to assess progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyze data and prepare summary reports to inform planning, decision-making, and performance evaluation.
  • Develop and publish NCSHIP reports in collaboration with stakeholders from concept through final dissemination.
  • Design and execute communication strategies to support outreach, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness of NCSHIP activities.
  • Provide technical assistance and subject matter expertise on community engagement best practices and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to align NCSHIP initiatives with broader public health goals and strategic priorities.
  • Represent the Division in meetings and forums, delivering presentations and updates on NCSHIP progress and community engagement efforts.
