By joining the Operating Room team as a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will provide a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and caregivers to promote and support the highest level of patient experience. You will perform administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow within the unit, showing passion for improving outcomes for patients each and every day. A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM – 11:30PM, including rotating weekends.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience in a customer service-related role
  • Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Nice To Haves

  • College degree
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience with medical terminology

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
  • Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
  • Communicate and facilitate communication with patients, families, other departments and health care team members regarding patient care.
  • Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
  • Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
  • Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
