About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator will be responsible for programs and practices that ensure the safety & health of our US employees and ensures environmental compliance for CM Shredders and Shred-Tech USA. The EHS Coordinator position is responsible for developing, planning and directing environmental and health & safety activities to ensure employee engagement, regulatory compliance and implementing policies to promote a culture of safe working and the environment at our Sarasota location.

Requirements

  • Degree in Occupational Health, safety, safety management or relevant field experience
  • 2+ years EHS experience in manufacturing environment (custom equipment, metal fabrication, system assembly and testing preferred)
  • Knowledge of legal EHS regulations in the state of Florida (Federal, State, and local levels)
  • Strong oral and written communication, analytical, problem solving and human relationship skills.
  • Execution, attention to detail, initiative, costumer focus and drive for change
  • Must be highly organized; able to prioritize and meet target dates in a very fast-paced environment
  • Result driven and accountable for actions
  • Ability to work independently while seeing others as essential team members
  • Strong organizational and systems implementation

Responsibilities

  • Establish a culture that is aligned with Shred-Tech’s (Heico) EHS goals and objectives, with continuous EHS improvements at CM Shredders.
  • Manage, direct, coach, lead, and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals and objectives in a timely and safe manner, while continuously striving to improve safety skills & awareness
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates EHS compliance activities through functional teams.
  • Maintain facilities environmental permits
  • Acts as EHS liaison assisting in the execution of our EHS continuous improvement plan for CM Shredders and Shred-Tech USA
  • Responsible for directing incident investigations identifying root causes and executing sustainable corrective actions
  • Conduct health, safety, and environmental facility inspections, audits, and job hazard analysis (JHA)
  • Identify and develop good working relationships with federal and local authorities (i.e., safety agencies, Government agencies, etc.) as well as appropriate internal Environmental, Health and Safety contacts
  • Develop, coordinate and/or conduct EHS training programs in accordance with OSHA requirements
  • Assist in providing information for Workers Compensation requests (incident investigations)
  • Responsible for driving processes that will result in a reduction of accidents and injuries, and the identification of potential hazards present in the workplace
  • Advise, develop, and facilitate safety training to new shop floor employees and supervisors
  • Report health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics through safety management software (Gensuite)
  • Oversees, coordinates, and provides input for facilities planning, building repairs, or maintenance from an EHS perspective
