This seasonal HSE Supervisor will support the HSE Director with the development, implementation and maintenance of the park Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management system to meet the requirements of applicable Adventureland HSE standards and federal, state, and local requirements. In addition, seasonal Supervisors assist in the coordination of the park's overall safety and EMS Response, ensuring compliance with all local, state, federal standards and all policies/procedures established by Adventureland Park. Supervisors will continuously exemplify quality leadership for the EMS/safety team and provide oversight and accountability. Additional responsibilities include managing emergency situations and overseeing the seasonal safety department Hosts and daily operation. We are currently looking for a: Adventureland Park - Health, Safety and Environmental Supervisor (HSE)

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate motorized vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive pa r k and guest information
  • Ability to understand and apply knowledge of HSE policies and procedures, interviewing, listening, and note-taking techniques for specific situations
  • Ability to deal fairly, objectively, and courteously with the public without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs
  • Ability to professionally and calmly deal with stressful and/or tense situations
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to collaborate with other Host s, external first responders, and emergency personnel during emergency situations
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
  • Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods of time, while using a computer/camera equipment
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Health & Safety, Emergency Management, Engineering, Sustainability, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline is highly desired; Equivalent work experience will also be considered
  • 1-2 years of previous safety or environmental experience highly desired
  • Previous experience with health & safety-related investigations is preferred
  • Previous hospitality, amusement pa r k, theme pa r k, or water pa r k experience preferred
  • EMT Certification in the state of Iowa preferred but not NREMT (preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; S pa nish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, NF PA and Life Safety Codes desired
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily operations of the HSE tea m and any other assigned de pa r tments
  • Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Adv e nt ur e la n d ’s core values
  • Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned Host s
  • Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all HSE positions and backfill these positions when needed
  • Pa r tici pa te in all aspects of supervision of assigned Host s, including hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline.
  • Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are being given in accordance with Iowa law
  • Assist with tea m scheduling and timekeeping activities
  • Support HSE leadership with incorporating Pa lace HSE standards and local HSE requirements into pa r k procedures and training
  • Conduct proactive risk assessments to identify and minimize potential risks in all aspects of pa r k operations
  • Assist when performing self-audits and inspections to verify compliance with HSE standards, procedures and applicable local HSE regulations
  • Assist HSE leadership with ensuring maintenance equipment, amusement devices, attractions, rides, facilities and other equipment meet applicable industry standards, as defined by local regulations, applicable ASTM, Adv e nt ur e la n d , and Herschend Family Entertainment standards
  • Lead, conduct and assist in investigations for guest and Host HSE related incidents
  • Pre pa r e and enter incident reports into incident reporting and management system
  • Assist with developing corrective and preventive actions to address incidents
  • Coordinate the timely and accurate completion of recurring HSE reports
  • Assist with de pa r tmental data entr y, filing, and administrative tasks
  • Enter incident reports into the incident reporting and management system
  • Maintain SOPs and local protocols
  • Assist with accident investigations of guest and Host incidents, as needed
  • Oversee Worker’s Compensation claims process including reporting, investigating & maintaining files, and record keeping
  • Maintain First Aid, Injury & HSE files and ensuring accurate documentation while always upholding confidentiality of this sensitive information
  • Oversee and perform inspections at various Pa r k sites to verify compliance with Pa r k safety standards
  • Assist in the development and execution of pa r k-wide safety , first aid , and sustainability processes and procedures
  • Maintain composure in dealing with guests, authorities, executives, and staff, under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations
  • All other duties assigned by l eadership
