About The Position

The EHS Supervisor is responsible for supervising, implementing, and sustaining local Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, projects, and initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance and foster a strong culture of safety at Vertiv facilities in Ironton, OH. This role provides hands-on EHS leadership and support to site management teams, driving risk-reduction strategies, safety best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives with the objective of achieving zero injuries. The EHS Supervisor ensures compliance with all applicable national, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations and Vertiv standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety experience.
  • 4–8 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment or similar setting; warehousing/kitting experience preferred.
  • Federal DOT knowledge preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E standards.
  • Strong understanding of DOT hazardous materials shipping regulations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, and site leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence safe work behaviors and support leadership accountability for EHS performance.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety as a core Vertiv value and actively reinforce a positive, engaged safety culture at the site level.
  • Support site leadership in identifying, prioritizing, and executing EHS initiatives aligned with operational and business needs.
  • Coordinate with Learning and Development to support the evaluation, development, and delivery of required EHS training programs.
  • Maintain site safety documentation, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and ergonomic assessments.
  • Maintain OSHA and Vertiv-required incident and injury records and logs.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA regulatory requirements, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, stormwater permitting, SARA Title III & EPCRA Title I/II reporting, wastewater discharge requirements, and SPCC Plans.
  • Support management of hazardous materials shipping registrations and related vendor contracts.
  • Collect, track, and report EHS metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Align and coordinate EHS metrics and best practices with the Vertiv Operating System (VOS).
  • Verify that new equipment, machinery, workstations, and assembly lines comply with applicable safety and environmental regulations and Vertiv standards.
  • Escalate facility risks, incidents, trends, and corrective actions to the EHS leader and site leadership as appropriate.
  • Monitor environmental impacts in accordance with Vertiv environmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement, enforce, and continuously improve EHS systems, programs, policies, and procedures to reduce or eliminate risk.
  • Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments.
  • Support and maintain employee safety committees, safety suggestion programs, and safety awareness activities.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Support management of Workers’ Compensation claims and attend hearings as required.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, including the Emergency and Crisis Management Response Program and local Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT).
  • Standard work schedule is Monday–Friday, day shift, with flexibility to support off-shift training, emergencies, or special situations as needed.
  • Travel may be required for training, audits, and cross-facility inspections.
