About The Position

Vault 44.01 (“Vault”) is a leading carbon capture & storage (“CCS”) developer focused on the development, capitalization, and operation of carbon storage assets throughout North America. Vault’s team brings over 90 years of direct carbon storage experience, with involvement in the development of carbon storage projects across North America since 2007. Vault’s capabilities span technical analysis, project design, permitting, stakeholder engagement, land leasing and acquisition, facility construction, and operations. In collaboration with our industrial partners, we are currently developing CCS projects in the US Midwest, US Southeast, and Canada, focusing on single CO2 source, near-site sequestration projects and including 7 projects currently under contract. Vault has secured a US$300 million equity capital commitment from Grey Rock Investment Partners (Dallas, TX-based private equity company) and has offices in Denver, CO and Calgary, AB. Vault is seeking an experienced HSE professional to lead and grow an industry-leading HSE culture within Vault and implement Vault’s HSE programs in the field. Vault is a rapidly growing company where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be an integral member of the team that takes the company from a planning-heavy phase to active field operations. This is a high-impact role and the successful candidate will work closely with not only Vault’s Land, Projects and Operations teams; but also project partners, local landowners, local and regional government agencies and emergency response agencies. Vault supports a flexible hybrid work environment with a mix of in-person collaboration and remote work. Emphasis is placed on producing high quality work and meeting deadlines.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in HSE and/or Upstream Oil and Gas related fields
  • A thorough understanding of applicable HSE-related government laws, regulations, and reporting procedures in U.S and Canada
  • Are qualified as GSP, ASP, or CSP
  • Education, certifications, and experience commensurate with an HSE Manager level role
  • Knowledge of safety, training and environmental concepts, standards, and practices
  • Knowledge of process safety management
  • A thorough knowledge of the techniques of accident investigation and loss control
  • A working knowledge of the Upstream Oil and Gas, and/or CCS industries and related equipment, materials, and technology
  • A capability of developing programs and making presentations to employee groups
  • Willing to travel up to 25 - 40% of the time (primarily U.S. locations)
  • Strong time management and digital technology skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Highly proficient verbal and written communication skill set
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada or the United States of America

Responsibilities

  • Grow and update Vault’s HSE Policy and Management System among other policies and procedures.
  • Regularly perform field safety assessments and field supervision of ongoing operations.
  • Develop an incident management system including a process for reporting of near misses and incidents and initiate a case management system.
  • Work with the Projects and Operations teams to ensure that vendor HSE programs are aligned and in compliance with Vault’s HSE policies.
  • Audit performance and compliance with policies, programs, and procedures. Conduct periodic health and safety field/site audits and inspections along with management systems audits.
  • With contribution from Projects and Operations, lead the development of Emergency Response Plans (ERP) specific to respective projects in North America.
  • Develop Leading Indicators and HSE Goals and KPI’s.
  • Prepare monthly HSE reports to focus on operational improvement.
  • Advise on OSHA, CCOHS, EPA, and other State Regulatory matters and applicable requirements.
  • Regularly attend and contribute to stakeholder discussions on existing and new projects, including meetings with partner facilities, landowners, local and county officials, and state regulators.
  • Develop and track internal training and development programs in support of a culture of safe work.
