About The Position

Division: Within the Health Information Department at ELMHS, Located in Jackson, LA The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long term psychiatric are in coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and positive individual to join our team as a Health Information Coordinator! One year of experience in administrative services; OR One year of training in or completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum from a business school or technical institute. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the required general experience.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties: Coordinates the record retrieval for all unscheduled outpatient clinic visits, inpatient nurse stations, and the emergency room and follows up on records not located for patient care in a timely manner by assisting physicians and other healthcare workers using knowledge and expertise in health record requirements and policies. Reviews, classifies, monitor, and maintains health care records by updating patient files, filing, compiling statistics, and identifying and correcting record errors on reports. Documents and tracks record deficiencies and updates computerized database by preparing reports of the number of physicians' incomplete records for designated medical and administrative staff. Participate in education trainings that are mandatory for accreditation and licensure of the facility. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: The position may be filled as a Probational (open to all qualified applicants); a promotion (open to all statewide classified. And Agency-Wide permanent status employees); or by Detail to Special Duty. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointed if selected.
