About The Position

The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a motivated, detailed oriented person to serve as the Health Information Associate at Stateville Correctional Center. This person will assist in planning and organizing the health information records program at the facility, compile and assemble information records, and receive, review and answer individual in custody requests for health information. In addition, they will file records and reports, and monitor health information forms. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of college and one (1) year of health-related office experience, or completion of high school and three (3) years of health-related office experience.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers at least one (1) year experience working with medical, psychological, and/or psychiatric terminology.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year experience working with health information records.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year experience classifying and indexing health records.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year experience working with health care providers regarding health information records.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year experience composing correspondence to relatives, legal guardians, and/or public agencies.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year experience compiling statistical data.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year experience performing health information reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Health Information Administrator in planning and organizing the health information records program at Stateville Correctional Center.
  • Compiles and assembles information records of individuals in custody being transferred or paroled out of the facility.
  • Receives, reviews, and answers individuals in custody requests for health information including photocopying and health information records and reports.
  • Files, processes, and retrieves health information records and reports.
  • Monitors perpetual inventory of all health information forms.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
