About The Position

The DHHS Division of Public Health is seeking a skilled Health Data Coordinator for the Nebraska Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program for the State of Nebraska.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Statistics or related field and one year experience in statistics, data collection, data management or related area OR Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or related field plus three years experience in any of the above or related area. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
  • Some travel is required for biannual site visits across the state which can require up to three overnight stays. Also, attendance at an annual national meeting in Washington, DC that can require up to three overnight stays.
  • Microsoft Excel and Access Proficiency
  • Familiarity with coding languages including python
  • Familiarity with Tableau software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly to groups with varied levels of background knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Submit data performance and demographic annually, and engagement data quarterly on the Home Visiting programs to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) through the Electronic Handbook (EHB).
  • Annual submission of barriers to and steps taken to improve data quality and responding to HRSA requests for more information or data validation.
  • Create missing data Excel sheets for demographic data and performance data, including the element(s) that potentially caused the data to be missing.
  • Verify what data is missing from the raw data when requested. Data should be pulled from Tableau.
  • Create and verify Excel sheets for each site containing selected measure data, including target IDs and relevant details, while maintaining records of data quality issues, needs, and interventions.
  • Email all local implementing agency (LIA) managers, coordinators, and supervisors their site-specific forms, along with missing data sheets and measure sheets, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Send individual emails and host virtual office hours for form review and technical assistance.
  • Evaluate needs, support provided, and progress made.
  • Attend monthly check-in calls with each site to answer questions, provide updates, and/or reminders.
  • Receive updates from the University of Kansas Center for Public Partnerships and Research (KU CPPR) on data cleaning processes and challenges.
  • Discuss concerns from LIAs that were unable to be addressed at DHHS, regarding missing data, logic, or other data specific topics.
  • Maintain communication with KU CPPR throughout the year.
  • Review data by site and funding source for accuracy and quality, then print PDFs for each and the entire network, organizing them in the Home Visiting shared drive.
  • Document significant quarterly changes, improvements, declines, and track needs, challenges, and technical assistance related to data quality.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings including quarterly monitoring call with HRSA, monthly DHHS Home Visiting Leadership team meetings, quarterly Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) State Team meetings, monthly Manager/Supervisor Open Mic calls, or other meetings as necessary.
  • Attend bi-annual programmatic subrecipient monitoring site visits for each LIA, conduct file reviews and home visitor interviews along with the Home Visiting and Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) Program Specialist. Specifically looking for important data elements and home visitor knowledge of data processes.
