About The Position

The primary purpose of the Vocational Health Care Technician II position is to ensure safety and quality active treatment for the people residing at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center through direct support and program/service development and implementation. The Vocational HCT II is part of the team providing continuous active treatment and vocational training that is based on their needs/preferences/strengths and potential. The Vocational HCT II is involved in supporting the individual in every aspect of his/her life and will be skilled in person-centered philosophies, vocational skill assessments, program design, program implementation and incidental teaching strategies to enhance independence and maximize resident self-determination and ability to successfully live as independently as possible.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic math skills of adding, dividing, calculating percentages, and averaging.
  • Observe resident performance and give feedback.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Visual skills to ensure resident safety, perform supervisory responsibilities, and to communicate effectively with residents and staff.
  • Ability to stay organized and to work without direct daily supervision.
