About The Position
The primary purpose of the Vocational Trainer position is to ensure safety and individualized job skill training for the individuals served in the vocational program through direct support and service implementation. The Vocational Trainer position is involved in supporting the individual in all aspects of his/her career development process including the integration of communication, social skills, and community referenced skills into their work routine. The Vocational Trainer is part of a team that provides supports based on individual identified needs/wishes/preferences/strengths and potential for learning. These supports are directed toward enhancing independence and retaining skills that maximize resident self-determination.
Requirements
- High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice To Haves
- Basic math skills of adding, dividing, calculating percentages, and averaging.
- Observe resident performance and give feedback.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Visual skills to ensure resident safety, perform supervisory responsibilities, and to communicate effectively with residents and staff.
- Ability to stay organized and to work without direct daily supervision.
