About The Position

The Health Care Supervisor provides direct oversight of Health Care Technician staff and the home’s daily operations to ensure the safety, care, programming, and overall quality of services for individuals within the assigned living unit. The role includes assigning tasks, offering guidance, and supporting Developmental Technicians I and II to maintain consistent, high-quality care and habilitative services for all residents. The supervisor is responsible for performance management, including conducting staff meetings for training and communication, evaluating performance, counseling staff, and administering disciplinary actions when necessary. The position also develops and manages work schedules to ensure 24/7 staffing coverage, coordinates staffing needs, and maintains accountability for accurate timekeeping records. Additional responsibilities include overseeing safety, sanitation, and compliance with all applicable standards, monitoring and approving requests for supplies, personal items, and individual funds, and ensuring adequate materials and resources are available to support a therapeutic environment and active treatment programming. The supervisor maintains ongoing communication with interdisciplinary team members, may serve on committees, investigates incidents or injuries promptly, and acts as a liaison to resolve issues efficiently while ensuring continuity of care and 24-hour support for staff and residents. This Health Care Supervisor position is located within the Nursing Department and is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, hours may vary based on the operational needs of the unit.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development Diploma and three years of experience; -or- an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As this position is located within the Facility Infirmary and Medical Unit, an active and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-8 times daily).
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature.
  • This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of individuals with developmental disabilities, including experience providing direct care in a residential setting and understanding the roles and responsibilities of health care staff.
  • Knowledge of State, Caswell, and Divisional policies and procedures.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and report on the strengths and needs of both individuals and staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience scheduling staff across multiple shifts and performing related timekeeping functions.
