About The Position

We are currently recruiting for a Health Care Technician II that will function as a Therapeutic Support Specialist (TSS) II / Mentor at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). This position will work on the Forensic Services Unit (FSU) specifically primary care unit of Pretrial/Forensic Medium Treatment. The primary purpose of this position is to mentor, provide leadership, expertise and guidance to HCT staff providing basic nursing care and therapeutic interaction with patients who are mentally ill.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (If applicants are not NA I certified and are selected for a position, training will be offered by the hospital. However, certification must be obtained, and employee must pass all facility required training as a condition of employment).
  • Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR certification within 60 days
  • Valid driver's license
  • This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
  • All employees are required to adhere to the facility's Vaccination Policy.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of a certified nursing assistant (including bio-statistical data such as vital signs, lab work and specimen collections)
  • Knowledge of patient interactions involving behavioral, physical and medical interventions (within scope)
  • Ability to work with behaviorally difficult patients while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment
