About The Position

This position is assigned to the hospital's canteen or grill, and its primary purpose is to train, instruct, demonstrate and provide assistance to patient workers in this setting. Provides guidance and support to patient workers to improve work skills and general work knowledge required to maintain employment in the community. Duties include completing and/or instructing patient workers in following all safety and sanitation guidelines, stocking food items, cooking, serving food, cleaning, inspecting food items as well as the environment, receiving and accounting for deliveries, planning menus, assisting with cashier duties. This position provides positive person-centered interactions, communicates effectively, demonstrates willingness to help others and respect for patients and peers.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • General knowledge of food service (i.e. running a register, food preparation, cooking, and other related duties.)
  • Demonstrated skills in working with others and effective communication.
  • Working knowledge of running a cash register.
  • Proficiency in training and instructing others.

Responsibilities

  • Train, instruct, demonstrate and provide assistance to patient workers in the canteen or grill setting.
  • Provide guidance and support to patient workers to improve work skills and general work knowledge required to maintain employment in the community.
  • Complete and/or instruct patient workers in following all safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Stock food items.
  • Cook and serve food.
  • Clean and inspect food items as well as the environment.
  • Receive and account for deliveries.
  • Plan menus.
  • Assist with cashier duties.
  • Provide positive person-centered interactions.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrate willingness to help others and respect for patients and peers.
