About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, with approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. The Adult Admissions Unit is an inpatient unit serving individuals from the ages 18 years of age and older. The objective of the admission unit is to provide a safe and structured environment for crisis stabilization. Cherry Hospital is a State-of-the-Art Psychiatric hospital located in Goldsboro, North Carolina, serving the 38 most eastern counties of North Carolina. Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Successfully pass all required parts of CPI’s Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (as a condition for continued employment)
  • Listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (as required for continued employment)
  • Listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (as applicable for continued employment)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terms and abbreviations
  • Ability to transfer written information accurately to various forms
  • General office skills such as filing and telephone etiquette
  • Computer skills/proficiency in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Administrative/clerical tasks
  • Assist the Clinical Nurse Manager to ensure sufficient documents are available and also with accurate unit record keeping
  • Communication across disciplines and hospital departments via phone, email, and writing
  • Assisting the CNM to follow up with staff for compliance with required Cherry Hospital training
