About The Position

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator is an essential support to the local manufacturing team and a member of the North American Environmental, Health & Safety Team. This support is provided through implementing and maintaining key elements of the EHS Management System (EHS MS) and written workplace safety programs, injury and incident management, EHS training delivery, safety committee support, local waste management, and overall promotion of a strong environmental, health and safety culture.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Health & Safety, Engineering, Sciences, or equivalent is considered an asset
  • One to three (1-3) years of experience in environmental, health, and safety preferred
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) regulations, consensus standards, and industry best practices
  • Experience with EHS Management Systems and document control is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop cooperative networks and build trust at all levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; an ability to articulate key messages to a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and priorities, well organized and comfortable working with data
  • The ability to perform regular sitting, standing and walking activities.
  • The ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • The ability to actively listen.
  • The ability to read and understand comprehensive documents.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate active, visible, and professional environmental health and safety leadership at all times;
  • Implement the Vista North American EHS Management System in the Reno facility;
  • Support the development, update, and regionalization of EHS Programs;
  • Support operations and engineering in the assessment of risk associated with workplace processes machine guarding, ergonomics, and chemical use.
  • Organize and conduct EHS training including the scheduling, delivery and tracking of EHS training;
  • Administer the local contractor management program; validate all contractor training, safety program documentation, and insurance certifications;
  • Serve as a resource to the Safety Committee (JHSC) by preparing meeting materials and inspection schedules, monitoring the action register, and other support functions;
  • Maintain the local Safety Data Sheet management system by entering new chemicals, performing chemical inventories, and archiving expired chemicals;
  • Perform incident and injury reviews and support investigations where required;
  • Analyze injury and incident data to identify trends and areas for improvement;
  • Collect key performance indicator data and statistics and prepare applicable reports;
  • Monitor and report on completed and overdue EHS action items (tasks and approvals);
  • Participate in EHS audits as required (local and/or regional);
  • Prepare required reports for internal and external use; and
  • Other duties that may be assigned to support the overall EHS program and team.
