About The Position

The Health Aide provides assistance to Gads Hill Center’s Head Start, Early Head Start and Early Head Start Child Care Partnership programs in maintaining compliance with mandated health requirements. This individual will collaborate with Family Support Specialists to coordinate health services for children and pregnant moms. In addition, the Health Aide supports monitoring of the health, safety, and nutrition component under the direction of the Health & Safety Manager. This position requires traveling to GHC sites throughout Chicago on a monthly basis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED or enrollment in a GED program required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software and general computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check.
  • A passion for the mission of Gads Hill Center.

  • Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural Spanish/English preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates children health records and data in Early Bird and CARES Systems.
  • Collaborates with Family Support Specialists to address missing medical documentation or data.
  • Maintains and monitors health supplies, first aid kits and related health material for all sites.
  • Monitor Medications and Health Documents that accompany the medications for Center-Based and Partner Sites.
  • Assists with data entry of developmental and social-emotional screenings into Early Bird and CARES.
  • Support Salesforce data entry as needed.
  • Serves as staff liaison to Gads Hill Center’s Health Services Advisory Committee.
  • Provides written notices of meetings and provides phone call reminders to members.
  • Ensures that all documents are copied in advance of meeting.
  • Maintains Center-Based Site lists of chronic health conditions and children receiving medication.
  • Monitors health and nutrition services in Early Bird and CARES and ensures data matches children’s files.
  • Reports non-compliance issues to Health and Safety Manager.
  • Handles sensitive information pertaining to children and families in a discreet and professional manor.
  • Enters data for Child and Adult Care Food Program and generates reports on a monthly basis to the Finance Office.
  • Conducts brief safety walkthroughs of sites and reports any safety repairs that need to be done to Health and Safety Manager.
  • Maintains health and nutrition content area binders at all sites.
  • Supports Family Support Specialists, when needed, with conducting growth assessment charts as mandated by DFSS and Chicago Commons health requirements.
  • Ensures data is entered in Early Bird and CARES and that growth charts are printed and filed in children’s health file.
  • Being liaison for Medical/Dental Van events, or other Health-Related Events.
  • Participate and conduct Health trainings.
  • Assists in preparing data requests and reports for Health.
  • Participates in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends.
  • Participates in supervision meetings and workshops within the agency and outside (if applicable).
  • Participates in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center.
  • Advances parent leadership development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
