About The Position

State Street is seeking to hire a seasoned financial crimes compliance professional to lead the AML & Sanctions governance and program management function for State Street Wealth Management. The Vice President will report to the Head of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions for State Street Wealth Management. The role includes ownership, oversight, and ongoing enhancement of a variety of program functions, including but not limited to: Develop, implement, and maintain AML and Sanctions compliance policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements. Establish and oversee governance structures, management reporting, and escalation frameworks. Lead the design and support the execution of the AML and Sanctions risk assessment to identify inherent risk, assess controls, and determine residual risks for State Street Wealth Management. Participate in the review and assessment of new products, services, and business initiatives for AML and Sanctions compliance risks, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations. Participate in projects related to changes to the AML governance or escalation framework including the design, implementation, and execution of controls to ensure process reliability and ensure comprehensive documentation is up to date. Coordinate regulatory examinations, internal audits, and compliance testing programs to ensure program effectiveness and adherence to policies. Develop, enhance and manage the AML and Sanctions compliance training program. Implement a quality assurance framework to monitor the effectiveness of the compliance program and drive continuous improvement. Manage the monthly reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs). The ideal candidate should be a strategic thinker with strong communication skills and a track record for successfully designing, implementing, and monitoring financial crimes compliance program frameworks in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This position is primarily based in Boston. This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office four days a week. Requirements

  • Deep understanding of AML and Sanctions, wealth management broker-dealer business, including its regulatory environment, operational processes, and industry best practices
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, especially in complex regulatory environments
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale, multi-location projects and drive cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Strategic mindset with a track record of designing, implementing, and enhancing compliance programs for continuous improvement
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • 8+ years of Industry-relevant experience within core business line broker- dealer, broker-dealer related operations, or operations risk management experience supporting the broker-dealer industry combined with sound understanding of the BSA/AML regulations either through practical experience in core BSA/AML operational functions or a governance role is required
  • 5+ years of prior management experience is required
  • Expertise in: Regulatory experience (FINRA/SEC), Transaction risk, Business advisory, Regulatory Requirements, Risk Assessments, Risk Control, Strategic Objectives Compliance Reporting, Customer Risk, Anti-money Laundering/Sanctions Policies and Procedures, Audit and/or Compliance Function, Fraud Management

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Securities licensing is a plus
  • Certifications such as the Certified Anti-Money Specialist (CAMS) and other recognized programs are a plus
