The Role As Head of Payroll & Benefits , you will own the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of payroll and benefits operations across a growing, multi-state organization. You’ll ensure accuracy, compliance, and scalability while partnering closely with HR and Finance to support both our people and our long-term growth.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience managing multi-state payroll operations
  • Background supporting organizations with 500+ employees
  • Demonstrated leadership of payroll teams and processes
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll compliance and state tax regulations
  • Experience administering employee benefits programs
  • Proven ability to manage commissions and bonus structures
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical and cross-functional collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Direct end-to-end payroll operations with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee multi-state payroll processing and state tax reporting requirements
  • Maintain payroll systems, schedules, and data integrity
  • Lead, mentor, and develop payroll team members
  • Partner with HR and Finance leadership on payroll and benefits strategy
  • Manage employee benefits administration, including self-funded plans
  • Coordinate with payroll vendors, benefits partners, and internal/external auditors
  • Produce and analyze payroll and benefits reports for executive leadership
  • Oversee complex payroll components such as commissions, bonuses, and incentive pay
