About The Position

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (“HKSTP”) is dedicated to building a world-class Innovation and Technology ecosystem by seamlessly integrating direct investments with scalable investment matching. A thriving innovation economy relies not only on financial resources but also on a dynamic and engaged investor community that propels the growth of startups and enterprises. Reporting to Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Investment will serve as a senior leader responsible for shaping, executing and governing HKSTP’s investment strategy around the Corporate Venture Funds, currently with AUM of HK$1 Billion (the “Funds”), which represents a key strategic measure in delivering HKSTP’s overall strategic objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related disciplines. MBA/CFA/CAIA is preferred.
  • More than 20 years of direct and/or work experience in investment, portfolio management and venture capital with at least 10 years of experience in early-stage investment preferability in innovation and technology related sectors.
  • Solid experience in investment or investment advisory works relating to statutory bodies and other public sectors is a definite advantage.
  • Proven track record of sourcing, securing, closing investment deals and exits with decent return rate.
  • Extensive network with investors around the globe, government bodies, universities, industries, academia, high tech parks, etc.
  • Knowledge in developmental landscape of selected key industries such as: Life and Health Technology, Micro-electronic/semiconductor, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Robotics, Telecommunications, Green Tech, New Energy and New Materials, are required
  • Familiar with global innovation policy, public‑private collaboration and deep‑tech commercialization dynamics.
  • Strong leadership with entrepreneurial flair and exceptional stakeholder management and ecosystem‑building credentials across VCs/CVCs/family offices/corporates; board‑level presence.
  • High integrity and sensitivity to governance and compliance in discharging the duties.
  • Occasional travel is required.
  • Excellent command in English and Chinese (including Putonghua).

Nice To Haves

  • MBA/CFA/CAIA is preferred.
  • Solid experience in investment or investment advisory works relating to statutory bodies and other public sectors is a definite advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee full lifecycle of investment from pipeline generation, negotiation, deal closing, portfolio management, risk mitigation, realization, strategy repositioning and exit management, responsible for the entire portfolio performance and asset allocation.
  • Strategize investment portfolio to make Hong Kong and HKSTP the preferred landing pad for mainland and global corporates and startups to drive the ecosystem growth and development.
  • Formulate investment and exit strategies, and create highest value-add to maximize return of the existing and future portfolio of the Funds.
  • Review existing portfolio of the Funds, identify potential opportunities and challenges, and monitor and mitigate the financial risks associated with the Funds.
  • Streamline investment processes, governance and reporting to better utilize resources while ensuring compliance in alignment with statutory and internal requirements.
  • Represent HKSTP to exercise shareholder’s right and ecosystem leader in monitoring business strategies and performance of the portfolio companies.
  • Build and maintain an active relationship with local, regional and global investor and industry player networks across the HKSTP’s portfolio of technology clusters to develop a robust and live investment pipeline, and to attract investors’ active engagement with HKSTP’s ecosystems.
  • Stay abreast of global investment trends, economic condition and Cluster megatrend, and contribute to the formulation and execution of other strategic investments and fundraising initiatives that align with the organization’s long-term objectives.
  • Support Senior Management to effectively prioritize and strengthen selected initiatives across the Cluster Groups.
  • Contribute to business review by providing industry insight and facilitate commercial negotiations from investment perspectives.
  • Lead the team to produce high quality papers and reports submission to the Board of Directors, Investment Committee and relevant Sub-committees for review and approval.
  • Build and coach a high‑performing team and cultivate an investment-focused culture throughout the business.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
